Celero Infrastructure Meeting Room
The Challenge
A meeting room can look polished and professional, yet still be difficult to use if the acoustics are working against the people inside it. That was the challenge in the Eagle Room at Celero Infrastructure, an Australian energy and digital infrastructure developer based at Flinders Lane, Melbourne. Celero works across large-scale energy, battery storage and digital infrastructure, with a strong focus on collaboration, partnerships and complex project delivery. For a business operating in this environment, meeting rooms need to support clear discussion, decision-making and communication. Excessive reverberation can make speech less distinct, particularly when several people are speaking or when calls and presentations are taking place. SoundFix Acoustics assessed the Eagle Room and measured a reverberation time of 1.20 seconds before treatment. Following the installation of acoustic panels, the room measured 0.59 seconds. That represents a verified 51% reduction in reverberation time.
The Solution
Meeting rooms are often acoustically difficult for a simple reason: they contain many hard, reflective surfaces. Glass partitions, plasterboard walls, hard ceilings, tables and other finishes can all reflect sound back into the room. Instead of speech fading naturally, those reflections remain audible and overlap with the next words being spoken. The result can be familiar to anyone who has sat through a difficult meeting: voices sound less defined, people repeat themselves, video calls become harder to follow, and a room that should support focused conversation begins to feel unnecessarily busy.
In the Celero Infrastructure Eagle Room, SoundFix measured reverberation across frequencies from 125 Hz to 8 kHz. The pre-installation data showed 1.23 seconds at 500 Hz, 1.16 seconds at 1 kHz and 1.17 seconds at 2 kHz, all within the range that is highly relevant to everyday speech. The reported overall reverberation time was 1.20 seconds. This confirmed that the issue was not simply how loudly people were speaking. It was how long the room was holding onto that sound.
The Installation
SoundFix designed a combined acoustic treatment for the Eagle Room using both acoustic wall panels and ceiling panels.
The ceiling treatment was used to absorb sound reflecting from the large overhead surfaces, while the wall panels targeted additional reflections around the room. This combined approach helped reduce the amount of sound continuing to bounce between the ceiling, walls and other hard finishes. The wall panels also integrate into the meeting room as part of the interior design, rather than looking like an added technical treatment. In a premium commercial space like this, that balance matters. The acoustic solution needs to improve performance while still respecting the architecture and visual character of the room.
Following installation, the Eagle Room’s reverberation time reduced from 1.20 seconds to 0.59 seconds, representing a 51% reduction in reverberation time. For the social post, I would also correct the wording to: SoundFix installed a combination of wall and ceiling acoustic panels, targeting reflections across multiple surfaces in the room. That makes the project sound more considered and better reflects the finished space shown in the image.
The Outcome
Before acoustic treatment: 1.20 seconds RT60
After acoustic treatment: 0.59 seconds RT60
Reduction in reverberation time: 51%
The frequency data also demonstrates where the improvement occurred.
At 500 Hz, reverberation reduced from 1.23 seconds to 0.60 seconds.
At 1 kHz, it reduced from 1.16 seconds to 0.57 seconds.
At 4 kHz, the measurement reduced from 1.03 seconds to 0.53 seconds.
These results are particularly useful because they show that the improvement occurred strongly across the frequencies associated with speech and conversation. In practical terms, sound now decays more quickly in the Eagle Room rather than continuing to reflect around the space. For a meeting room, that supports a more controlled acoustic environment where conversations, presentations and discussions are less affected by lingering reflected sound.
Speak to SoundFix Acoustics
Meeting rooms are where businesses make decisions, present ideas, speak with clients and collaborate across teams. When the acoustics are poor, communication has to work harder. Excessive reverberation can reduce speech clarity and make a meeting room feel more acoustically demanding than it should. This becomes particularly noticeable during group discussions, hybrid meetings and presentations, when several sound sources may be present at once.
Good commercial acoustics are therefore not about creating silence. They are about creating the right conditions for communication.
At Celero Infrastructure, a 51% reduction in reverberation time demonstrates what targeted acoustic treatment can achieve when the solution is based on actual room measurements rather than guesswork.
